"Off The Record"
Sharon and I started working together around 2009, when she was playing on the acoustic scene. The first time I heard her voice soar above her songs, my mind was already switching to thinking about how good they could be with a full band. We got talking about influences and styles; I didn't appreciate at the time, just how versatile she was, both as a writer and a vocalist. We started off focusing on bands like The Killers / Kings of Leon and one weekend, guitarist John Carson and I recorded the demo of '59 Degrees North'. To this day, I still think it's on of my favourite songs ever.

Now, as we fast-forward to the completion of the album, everyone can hear the depth of Sharon's ability, moving effortlessly towards Tracy Chapman, Janis Joplin, then taking a hard left towards The Rolling Stones, before returning back to The Killers. From my side, I wanted to bring elements from artists like Ben Folds, Stevie Wonder, Jamiroquai, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and The Beatles - I think we happily met somewhere in the middle.

From my Musical Director point of view, 'Natural High' gave me the freedom to experiment with arrangements, artist ability and musicianship. We mixed-up some of the 'musical norms', and worked together to create something we are all very proud of.

"Sorry"
"Greg's string composition on the song 'Sorry' reduced me to tears. It more than excelled my expectations."
